Dr Srikanth Narasimalu

Program Director & Principal Research Scientist

Energy Research Institute, NTU

Dr. Srikanth Narasimalu serves as the Program Director and Senior Principal Research Scientist at ERI@N (NTU), leading the renewables and sustainability efforts in ERI@N, Singapore. Before joining NTU, he held roles as Technical Director and Senior Specialist at Vestas Wind Energy Systems, accumulating over 25 years of experience in industrial research and development. Currently, he spearheads projects in offshore wind and tidal turbine development, hydrogen integration, and the application of marinized IoT sensors for asset health monitoring using digital twins. He also oversees real-time environmental impact assessments and monitoring to ensure the structural integrity of energy systems, which support the Blue economy initiatives, including ocean-based aquaculture and sustainable island development to support clean energy and water needs.

Dr. Srikanth has a strong background in mechanical engineering, with a first master’s in machine design, a second in materials engineering, and dual PhDs in Mechanical Engineering and Technology Management. His research spans offshore renewable system design, hydrogen energy storage, IoT & Deep learning towards digital twin development, structural dynamics, advanced composites & coatings, additive manufacturing, failure analysis, and environmental impact studies.

He leads a joint industry program on offshore renewables, collaborating with major multinationals like Rolls-Royce, Keppel, DNV and Lloyd’s Register, as well as smaller startups & SMEs, to develop technologies and products at high TRL and to support doctoral research that meets industrial needs. Dr. Srikanth has authored over 150 peer-reviewed journal articles and holds more than 30 patents. He chairs the national standards body, contributes to wind and marine standards in IEC TC114 & TC88, and represents Singapore in the IEA’s Ocean Energy Systems technology initiative.
