Dr Eric Gubesch

Australian Maritime College

Eric Gubesch is a postdoctoral research fellow at the Australian Maritime College (AMC), a specialist institute of the University of Tasmania. He obtained his PhD in Maritime Engineering and his Bachelor of Ocean Engineering at AMC. He also has a Bachelor of Education from the Queensland University of Technology and many years of experience in the government and university education sectors.

Eric’s PhD investigated the effects of mooring systems on the operational performance and survivability of floating offshore wave energy converters using experimental and numerical techniques. Eric was employed as a postdoctoral researcher for the Australia-China Offshore Wind and Wave Energy Harnessing Joint Research Centre, where he investigated hydrodynamic interactions between a co-located wind turbine and wave energy converter.

Eric’s current research is investigating offshore production systems for kelp mariculture as a part of the Blue Economy Cooperative Research Centre. His primary objective is to become an engineer and researcher with impact in sustainable offshore systems that are powered by renewable energy.
