Motivated by the urgent need to develop new clean and renewable energy sources to tackle the major problem of climate change, at Magallanes Renovables, we have developed an innovative solution to harness the immense power of the seas and address this environmental crisis in an efficient, sustainable, and highly productive manner, contributing to the transition towards a greener future.

By leveraging as much technology as possible from an already mature and well-stablished industry as the wind energy sector, we have developed a ground-breaking device, a Current Mill, that harnesses power from tidal currents. Due to the predictability and frequency of the currents, our Current Mills generate a power output of 1.5MW, being able to supply the electricity demand of 1.500 homes. This demonstrates not only the strength and reliability of our technology but also its potential to make a meaningful impact in the global renewable energy landscape.

Thanks to its endorsed efficiency and advanced state-of-the-art engineering, we’ve reached a pivotal point in our journey where our Current Mills have reached commercialization Proof of this statement is the recent announcement of the UK Energy Auction AR6 results, where we have successfully secured a new Contract for Difference (CfD) for an additional 3MW more of capacity for our current Project in Scotland, being our fourth project in 3 years to be awarded a tariff in this auction This exciting development translates into the addition of two new Current Mills to the ongoing farm we had already secured in Scotland, highlighting the promising future of the sector.
